Advanced Animal Training – the alumni invitation
Welcome to rejoin me – and your fellow students – for another round of the AAT course! ππ₯³
The 2024 course will be dismantled at the end of April 2025, so the only way to stay with the material beyond that deadline is to re-join as an alumnus.
Each year, the old course gets dismantled, so when you join again, it’s with all the new students, and with the modules released weekly as before, in a new and hopefully improved version of the course.
What’s new? Well, every year I lift new questions/answers from the comments section, and update the links lists. And of course the discussions are different every year! π Also, I’ve made some big revisions or completely new chapters over the years since I created the course in 2018:
- 2019: revised extrinsic / intrinsic chapter; added chapter on the overjustification effect; removed 4 chapters and revised others in the reinforcement schedules module and added chapter on errorless learning
- 2020: added behaviourist definition of “superstitious behaviour”
- 2021: added voluntary self-assessment quizzes to all modules
- 2022: major adjustments to the negative reinforcement as well as the shaping module.
- 2023: minor adjustments to the sections on Core Affect Space, Non-Reward Markers and Choice, R-, Emotions and Schedules of Reinforcement.
- 2024: adjustments to Matching Law, added a section in the Shaping module related to gradual change procedures in all parts of the ABCs, as well as a kitty example of group training.
- 2025: still unclear, I make revisions as the course is released.
This course offer (at US$89:-, slightly less than 20% of the full price) is only available if you’ve already taken the Advanced Animal Training course.
If youβre buying the course through a business rather than privately, click the option below that corresponds to your situation:
Unfortunately Paypal’s standard receipt doesn’t specify VAT, but drop us an email at receipt@illis.se and we will send you a proper receipt with VAT specified for your book keeping.
You will be responsible for declaring the applicable VAT to your local tax-authorities, but there will be no monetary VAT-transaction for this course. Do not use the “take this course” button to buy the course – and don’t worry, the moment we get your email we’ll save you a seat!
If you are buying the course privately, just go ahead and use this button to sign up.
Local VAT will be added where applicable.
The “real” course starts April 25th, when I’m releasing Module 1 (Processes – animals and learning) – which is when this opportunity of joining the course ends.

The discussion on R- is very interesting. I have designed a new system being launched in May this year after 18months in testing. Some of the components like the 3 Point and 4 point side distributor lead are patent pending. We all use R- at some point. My goal was to make it as non confrontational as possible to the dog and human through adopting weight distribution and pulling from both centres of gravity. Here is a 1 minute testimony if you would like to take a peek. Maisie is a shelter dog in foster care

Oh interesting! Congratulations! Do you also have some explanatory material discussing the design? π
Hi Karolina
Just played with a bit of Physics
Not important that you watch this but the section from 5:33 explains the 3point distributor lead – there are comfort pads on the other side of the dogβs body π
